2006 Baseball Awards

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

I have been covering the biggest and best awards that have been given thus far in baseball: the silver sluggers, the CY Youngs, etc. There have been plenty of awards that I have not covered, and who better to go to about them than MLB themselves.

This link will take you to a page that lists every award, however old and prestigous or new and gaining ground in the sport of baseball. Feel free to voice your comments about who won, who should have won, or anything else related to any of the awards.

What Has Happened To America’s Pastime?

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

This is a depressing yet sadly true video.

The players of old may have used the occasional spit ball or sharpened spike, but I would take that over a sharp needle any day.

Barry Bonds The Cheater

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I promised you there would be more from me on the man. I have a never ending source of hate for this man, and a never ending source of material to show for it. =)

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did/do.

The Ball Collecting Guru

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

If you have heard of baseball and foul balls, it would be no surprise that people enjoy catching them. Now, I have read about this guy on mutiple occasions, he even has his own book, but I had never seen him in action until I saw this.

Does he have issues? I will let you decide.

Very Funny MTV Bonds/Steroids Skit

Monday, November 20th, 2006

I have never, and will never be a fan of Barry Bonds. I promise you all that this will not be the last jab I post about him, whether it be in video or written form. Nevertheless, this is darn funny and deserves to be seen and appreciated. =)

NL MVP Winner

Monday, November 20th, 2006

Ryan Howard has been named the 2006 NL MVP. Was there ever any doubt? The man was an offensive force to be reckoned with, which carried over from the regular season to the Japanese All-star series. Congratulations to all you Phillie and Howard fans and of course to the man himself!

See… he knew he was number 1. =)

Steroids Can’t Help ANYONE Do THIS!

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

I have posted a few steroid videos lately, because our great sport and pastime and forever tarnished because of them. But just as there are countless homeruns due to them, this video is proof that there are still skilled players out there that can make incredible plays.

The Reason God Created “The Cup”

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Click here to see the video. (I had to stop hosting it because it was auto-playing and we don’t need that when it is half-way down the page).

And that reason is because baseball players apparently enjoy thrusting into pitches…

The $51 Million Plane Ticket

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Well, it is about time I talked about Daisuke Matsuzaka. The, as of now, $51 million dollar man. The Red Sox’ bid to simply speak with Matsuzaka was accepted as the highest bid, dwarfing any previous bid to negotiate with a Japanese or any other player. He is flying to Boston as I type this, where the Red Sox will attempt to negotiate a deal with him for up to the next 30 days, at which point, if a deal is not made, he goes back to Japan until next year when teams must throw more money at him simply to talk.

Kman lays out, in his blog, Matsuzaka’s stats, and states that he has “dominated” his league.

I can hardly disagree, but both Kman and myself must ask the question that although he is good, is he $51 million good?

Rookies Named!

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Well, the debate can be settled of which of the Marlins rookies will be crowned. The answer is: Hanley Ramirez.

His AL Counterpart is Justin Verlander.

Here are the offical MLB articles on the results and the winners, or rather… deservers.

MLB Completes Sweep of the Japan All-stars!

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

The MLB went into the ninth with a single run lead, a lead which they were unable to hold as Japan scored to make the game tied at 3-3.

Japan then failed to score in the top of the tenth which set the stage for Jose Reyes to hit a game ending two run shot.

MLB’s record” 5-0 *With a tie if you count the exhibition game*

The MLB has only lost one series to Japan out of the ten times they have played each other, which is quite the healthy record; however, Japan was victorious over the USA team in the first World Baseball Classic this year. I can’t say that it surprised me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they went on to win the WBC again. After all, many of the top MLB players didn’t play for USA as they aren’t native to the country. My boy Andruw played in a futile attempt to help his Netherlands out. =)

The MLB stars fly home today, and they have a long flight to bask in series sweep.
