Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Arizona’s Mark Reynolds was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning, ending his major league record-tying streak of strikeouts in nine straight plate appearances.

I guess his record gives the “Golden Sombrero” a new meaning eh?

Garrett Anderson Drives in 10 Last Night…

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Garrett Anderson has perhaps seen his better days, but last night, he was on — and so in a big way.

In an 18-9 whacking of the Yankees, Anderson knocked in a team-record 10 runs which included a grand slam.

Jenks Misses Out on Record…

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Bobby Jenks fell short of a major league record before finishing off the Royals.

According to the AP, Jenks settled for a share of the record when Joey Gathright broke the Chicago closer’s string of 41 straight outs, and then stopped the White Sox’s worst skid in 16 years by saving a 4-3 victory over Kansas City on Monday night.

Jenks, who tied Jim Barr’s mark of 41 for San Francisco in 1972 last Sunday, gave up a single to Gathright to lead off the ninth.

Johan K’s 17 In Twins’ Win…

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Santana set a franchise record with 17 Ks in eight innings to lead the Minnesota Twins past the Texas Rangers 1-0 Sunday.

However, he let Joe Nathan finish the game despite the boos from the crowd at the Metrodome. He allowed two hits, all to Sammy Sosa, and stymied the Texas offense.

Congrats to Johan and the Minnesota faithful.

Are the Brew Crew Wiltering?

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

The Brewers are a young team; however based on their fast start and the talent, most assumed they would be good this season and it would just be a matter of hanging onto their lead in the NL Central.

At the moment, things are not going well for the Brew Crew.

The Cubs are now in first place in the NL Central after getting off to a horrible start.

Can the Brewers come back? It remains to be seen…

D-Backs’ Brandon Webb Extends Scoreless Innings Streak to 42…

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

We all know that Brandon Webb is good, but is he this good?

Brandon Webb is inching closer to Orel Hershiser’s record of 59 straight scoreless innings.

He threw a two-hitter last night against the Braves, and extended his scoreless innings streak to 42 innings.

Jermaine Dye Gets a 2 Year Extension with the White Sox…

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

After being the subject of trade rumors earlier in the summer, the White Sox decided they love Jermaine Dye so much they wanted to keep him.

All he has to do now is win a ring to become a “True Yankee”.

Big Z A Cub For Five More Years…

Friday, August 17th, 2007

For the happy people of Wrigley, your days have just gotten a little brighter. It looks like for the next several years, the burly ace of yours, Carlos “Big Z” Zambrano isn’t going anywhere.

The highly intense, loyal and perhaps sometimes crazy ace right-hander agreed Friday to a five-year deal to stay with the only team he’s been with his entire career. The figure is said to be $92 million over the life of the contract.

It looks like burly Yankee slugger Jason Giambi will be able to play baseball without threat of suspension.

Giambi escaped punishment from commissioner Bud Selig because of his charitable work and cooperation with baseball’s steroids investigator.

Barry Bonds Wants To Sue Those That He Thinks Defamed Him…

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

This week, Barry Bonds his lawyers to look into suing people who might have untrue, inflamatory or defamed him.

It looked like Curt Schilling would have been at head of the line.

Look, nothing is going to happen.

If Barry wanted to sue those who questioned the legtimacy of his career, much less records, then he’d have to go after the authors of the “Book of Shadows”, every sports talk show host, and half the print media and bloggers.

Do I see that happening? Um, no.

That might open up a whole can of worms for Bonds in terms of the legal sense, and I’m sure here does not want it.

Now, let’s go back to business as usual…

Video of the Orioles’ Kevin Millar and MASN’s Amber Theoharis Being Doused with Gatorade…

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Ok, I am a little late in finding this video and posting it online; however, thanks to file-sharing and video here’s the Kevin Millar post-game interview where he’s dosed with Gatorade along with Amber Theoharis.

This took place after his game-winning homer on Sunday where the O’s defeated the Boston Red Sox.

Paul Bako and Tike Redman were behind the ambush.

It’s quite funny to see, as while Kevin Millar has a sense of humor about it, Amber Theoharis handles the whole thing professionally, but does not look at all pleased.

Kevin got to at least change, I am not so sure about Amber.

I usually try my best to get photos of when stuff like this happens, but I was on the other side of the stadium when this took place.

A special thanks to *gatecitycanes* for the video…

And Bobby Cox gets ejected one more time for good measure…
