David Wells into Retirement? Is this the Last We’ll See of Boomer?

Could it be? Is this the last we might see of David Wells, aka Boomer.

According to the AP, David Wells is finished with his hometown San Diego Padres, and he’s set to be released any day.

General manager Kevin Towers said Wednesday that the Padres will cut ties with the struggling 44-year-old on Thursday in order to activate All-Star Chris Young from the disabled list.

If he’s indeed done, it’s been a colorful career for one of my favorite pitchers, on and off the field.
