FBI Will Probe Rockies’ Computers…

by

Out in Colorado, Rocktober for some came with a bitter pill to sallow. A lot of fans in Colorado could not get tickets because of computer connection issues, and the Monday before the tickets went on sale (the original date for the tickets to be sold), a malicious computer made a lot of lives miserable.

Now, the FBI is probing the computers of the Colorado Rockies.

The FBI opened an investigation after the Colorado Rockies claimed an “external, malicious attack” on computers halted the team’s first attempt to sell World Series tickets.

Computer servers handling the online-only sale were overwhelmed by 8.5 million hits in the first 90 minutes Monday, crashing the system and forcing the Rockies to suspend sales. On Tuesday, fans snapped up more than 50,000 tickets in 2 1-2 hours.

“We are going to be opening up a case looking into the possible compromise of the Web server in Irvine, (Calif.)” said Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Los Angeles.

I really don’t think anything comes of this honestly…
