by Anthony Amobi

Internet billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to the list of potential Chicago Cubs buyers.

According to the AP and ESPN, “Mark Cuban confirmed Thursday that he has submitted his application to Major League Baseball to purchase the Cubs. Cuban, who has owned the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks since January of 2000 and is known for his free-spending ways, told the newspaper he sent the paperwork in last week.”

Oh joy. At least he spice up baseball a little bit more…

A-Rod, the Future and His Contract…

by Anthony Amobi

Alex Rodriguez isn’t interested in talking contract with the New York Yankees until after the season.

Does he opt yet? I say yes. Scott Boras will test out his value on the market, mark my words.

The Sweet Swing of Ken Griffey…

by Anthony Amobi

Ken Griffey Jr. tied Frank Robinson for sixth place on the career home run list as the Reds with his 586th blast night.

Congrats Junior and hope you get your 600th this season!

Were the Vikings and Bears Playing in Chicago?

by Anthony Amobi

Thanks to Justin Morneau, and Joe Mauer along with an inept Chicago pitching staff, the Minnesota Twins scored 32 runs on Friday, winning 20-14 in the opener, and 12-0 during the night cap.

Morneau became the fourth Twins player to hit three home runs in a game (game two), as he killed the White Sox single-handedly.

Hideki Okajima An All-Star…

by Anthony Amobi

Fans voted Hideki Okajima to the AL All-Star squad ahead of Jeremy Bonderman. Why?

Oops, Sox fans are loyal and there’s only a whole other nation, Japan which also has a say…

For the most part, at least the NL go their choice of Chris Young right.

The Red Sox Tentacles Reach Further in Japan…

by Anthony Amobi

According to the AP, the Boston Red Sox have formed an alliance with Bobby Valentine’s team, the Chiba Lotte Marines of Japan’s Pacific League, to share player evaluations and statistical analysis.

Yep. The move is brilliant, and a total strategic one to use Japan as a resource for MLB talent.

Why more teams have not done this, I don’t know.

The Boss Turns 77 Today…

by Anthony Amobi

George Steinbrenner turns 77 today. With his health in supposedly in decline, and his role with the Yankees seemingly shrinking, the most well-known owner in all of sports is celebrating his birthday today.

Whether you care for him or not, let’s wish him a happy birthday and for making the game of baseball colorful and interesting.

That being said, here’s a video of George Steinbrenner (taken by yours truly) signing autographs for fans and a friend of mine during spring training in Tampa, Florida.

Barry Bonds Hits #751…

by Anthony Amobi

Well, Barry Bonds is within 4 homers of Hank Aaron now.

He hit number 751 in Cincinnati yesterday, but the Giants lost to the Reds on Tuesday.

He’ll be sitting out today, unless he is summoned to pinch-hit.

Cynthia Rodriguez Says F**K You…

by Anthony Amobi

Now, I don’t get this, either you want attention, or you don’t.

Cynthia Rodriguez I guess wants the latter, and she doesn’t care what the world thinks about it. On Sunday, according to the New York Post, Ms. Rodriguez wore a shirt on the back that said F**k You.

She was with her 2-year old daughter at the time…

I guess no one told Ms. Rodriguez that shirt is not allowed in Yankee Stadium, but yet security did nothing about it.

Sigh.

Although the Yankees are floundering, they still manage to keep the team in the news — for better or worse.

Ryan Howard to Defend the Home Run Derby Title…

by Anthony Amobi

Woohoo. Although he will not be in the All-Star Game, Ryan Howard will defend his Home Run Derby championship at San Francisco’s AT&T Park.

Will Barry join? That shall remain to be seen.

Congrats Rocket!

Happy Trails, Mike Hargrove.

by Anthony Amobi

Out of the blue, Mike Hargrove resigned from the Seattle Mariners before Sunday’s game. The Mariners are currently one of the better teams in the game sporting an 8 game winning streak and a 45-33 record.

Good luck Mike.

Narron on the Unemployment Line

by Anthony Amobi

With the worst record in baseball, the Reds decided to can Jerry Narron. Perhaps in a move long in the making, he was fired after the team finished Sunday with a MLB-worst record 31 wins in 82 games.

Happy trails, Jerry.
