More Drama in Tampa Bay: Well, 2007 may be a new year, but things have remained the same with some of the players. Uber-prospect, Elijah Dukes is in trouble once again. He was arrested this week with another passenger and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession after a traffic stop. His vehicle was searched due the presence of marijuana smoke & less than 2 grams of marijuana was in found in the car.
* Outfielder Kevin Mench and the Brewers agreed to a one-year deal on Tuesday, avoiding salary arbitration.
* Francisco Rodriguez agreed to a one-year, $7 million contract with the Angels, thus avoiding arbitration. As well, the Angels agreed to deals with relief pitchers Scot Shields and infielder Robb Quinlan.
* The Rockies also signed quite a few players. Outfielder Matt Holiday agreed to a $4.4 million, one-year contract, pitcher Jeremy Affeldt accepted a $1.25 million, one-year deal. As well, pitcher Rodrigo Lopez who was with Baltimore in 2006, and outfielder Cory Sullivan also reached one-year agreements.
* The Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday agreed to terms with Kyle Lohse on a one-year deal, thus avoiding arbitration.
* Huge news for the Tigers: The Detroit Tigers avoided salary arbitration with four cogs on the AL Pennant winners, agreeing to one-year contracts Tuesday with outfielder Craig Monroe, left-hander Nate Robertson, right-handed reliever Fernando Rodney and infielder Omar Infante.
* The New York Mets have made a few deals to shore up their bullpen. According to ESPN, the Mets finalized a $10.8 million, three-year contract with Scott Schoenweis and a $1.25 million, one-year deal with Jorge Sosa on Tuesday.
* Third baseman Joe Crede and the White Sox agreed Tuesday to a one-year deal for $4.94 million, this avoiding arbitration.
