* Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano left Monday’s 4-3 10-inning loss to the Milwaukee Brewers with cramping in his pitching arm.
* Cleveland Indians catcher Victor Martinez left his team’s 10-8 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday with a left hamstring injury
* Tony Gwynn’s sacrifice fly in the 10th inning was the difference as Milwaukee clipped the Chicago Cubs, 4-3, in the season opener for both teams at Wrigley Field. On a rainy day that saw lengthy delays, Kosuke Fukudome slammed a tying three-run homer in the ninth inning in his major-league debut for the Cubs, who dropped their second straight home opener. Bob Howry (0-1) took the loss in one inning of relief.

* Franklin Gutierrez went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk, as the Cleveland Indians held off the Chicago White Sox, 10-8, in the season opener for both teams at Progressive Field.
