‘Round the Bases…

* Oakland put right-hander Rich Harden on the 15-day DL, retroactive to April 3.

* Orlando Hernandez is out indefinitely with a strained tendon in his right foot, and will wear a boot…

* Left-hander Doug Davis was placed on the 15-day DL. He is set to undergo surgery for thyroid cancer today. Get well, Doug.

* Outfielder Cliff Floyd will have surgery Friday to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee & will be put on the 15-day DL.

* Claudio Vargas and the Mets agreed to a minor-league contract, giving New York another option for its injury-riddled rotation.

* Cubs right-hander Jason Marquis won’t make his scheduled start Friday against the Phillies because of the flu, so right-hander Carlos Zambrano is moving up a day to start in his place.
