‘Round the Bases … Wheeling and Dealing

* Jaret Wright and the Pittsburgh Pirates agreed on a minor league contract Wednesday with an invitation to spring training.

* The Chicago White Sox and right-handed reliever Octavio Dotel agreed on a two-year deal today worth $11 million. A waste of money.

* Relief pitcher Rafael Soriano and the Atlanta Braves agreed Thursday to a $9 million, two-year contract that avoided arbitration.

* Rod Barajas agreed to a $1.2 million, one-year contract Thursday with the Blue Jays that has an option for 2009.

* The Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday signed Hector Carrasco and lefthander to Casey Fossum to minor league contracts.
